Subaru Legacy Single Turbo AWD 1998

This is a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT-B estate, with a 2.0-litre turbo boxer, automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The car is for sale as a repair project: the engine has a noise that suggests a bottom-end bearing fault, and the exact extent of the fault has not yet been determined. The deal also includes another engine reported to be in working order, so there is no need to worry about more extensive engine damage.

The original twin turbo system has been converted to a single turbo and the engine management has been updated to Haltech. Maintenance has been carried out recently: timing belt about 500 km ago and engine and transmission oils and filters about 2,000 km ago. The car has been roadworthiness inspected 9/2026 and the odometer reads 190,000 km.

The body has typical wear for its age and the rear arches need repair, but new repair arches are included. There is slight dragging in the brakes, and the POWER light on the automatic transmission flashes due to engine management compatibility, even though the transmission has been working normally. In capable hands this could become a nice hobby car.
